Scarhoof’s Scribbles #017

Rising is nearly half-done, master.

Excellent Work. He will soon find it and we can proceed.

What about him mapping in the boat?

No matter, he is merely exploring, it is all part of the plan. Misdirection.

Dear August,

That was a lot of rowing. I finally got around to getting some mapping done of the area around my island. There is a lot of empty ocean out there. I wonder if there is anything I can do to fill it up? Maybe someday I’ll work on that, but for now I have a mission.

Remember those Golems that keep pestering me? I think they have stolen all my sand. I know! The nerve! They did bring me a new donkey for some reason. I really wish i knew what was going on. Something about this whole situation doesn’t seem right.

They picket my tearing down of the island. They make vague threats. They kill me in one of the dumbest piston-traps I’ve ever seen.

Up to this point?

Fine, whatever. They’re jerks but I get what they are doing and even why.

But now they are finishing my base for me. The gave me a donkey! (How did they even manage to get that beast over here anyway?)

Sorry, I digress. But all the decorations, stealing not only the mossy cobble but now my sand? And were they the one messing with me on that mob spawner?

Something really doesn’t add up. Also, I know this is petty and I’m probably reading into it more than I should, but how is it their vocabulary so robust in one encounter, but they can barely spell in others?

Like I said. More questions each time. I would sure like to get to the bottom of this someday.

I suppose that is about all I have to discuss right now. I have a lot of mapping to get back to. I want to finish up this project sooner rather than later.

Rising is working Master.

Excellent Word. Ensure it continues uninhibited.

I don’t think he has noticed yet, Master.

He will. He will not be able to ignore soon enough. Soon we will be revealed.

Dear August,

What I thought would end up being an enjoyable time away from my island turned out to be a confusing mess when I got back. Sure I came back with Jungle Tree Saplings, and Vines, thus completing my wood-type collection, but what I found waiting for me was disturbing.

I should back up.

I mined up three full stacks of ice. I wanted to use it for help with potential water blocks when I eventually start making farms around the area. It can save time having ice to create source blocks of water rather than having to run around with an inventory full of water buckets.

But I digress.  Everyone already knows that.

What I’m trying to talk about are the changes done to my island while I was gone.

Did the V.E.G.A.N.S. show up? Of course they did. They have an uncanny ability to know when I’m gone and show up to picket and/or mess with me.

This time they came in force, but you know what? I don’t care about their picketing. I get wool out of it, I get pumpkins, signs. It’s a slight nuisance at best.

What has me bewildered is that they keep messing with my base. Tell me I’m wrong, show me stats to back up your argument, fine. Do it all day long. I don’t care.

People are allowed to have differing opinions and freedom of speech. But these guys have taken it too far by intruding on my personal space and modifying my base without my permission.

Today they removed all the jack-o-lanterns from the ceiling in my mine with lava suspended by the cobble walls.

It looks nice, in fact it’s what I had planned on putting up there once I managed to get myself a decent supply of lava, but that isn’t the point. Them doing the work unrequested is a violation.

Same with my mine. They expanded it without my permission. Did I mention they carted probably fifty source blocks of lava up here to fill in the requisite spaces? It looks great, but…

I should stop. I’m just ranting at this point, and you know all this. You know my frustrations better than anyone.

I have come to a decision. I need to hunt these guys down and show them that they cannot bully me. It’s the only way to stop them. Show them I won’t take their abuse any longer. If I stand up to them know, I have the best chance of being taken seriously and not being bothered by them any longer.

So now I will begin preparations for routing them out.  First step, mapping. And Vines.

Scarhoof’s Scribbles #015

The Rising has begun Master, but they are coming back.

Pay no mind. They are powerless for now.

They are trying to warn him.

Patience. He will know soon enough.

Dear August,

Have you ever gotten so engrossed in your work that you wake up one day, much further along than you expected. I am still reeling, but that is what seems to have happened to me. I can’t explain it, but it’s not deja-vu, more like noja-vu.

I’ve never had the memory before but somehow things happened.

Okay, maybe you are right. I shouldn’t try to crack jokes, but it was really odd.

Regardless of how fast I am losing my mind, the fishing hut is nearly done. I have a basement now, and it looks really nice. Not sure what I will do with it just yet, but I will work on it and see if I can figure out what I want to do with the space.

I also have a nice little bridge and did some decorating. Things are sure shaping up around here. I think I’ll be ready to get some more landscaping around this place soon enough.

Not really sure what else to do, and having a tough time reconciling this notion that something odd is happening around me, I decided to clear my head and get some exploration done.

I headed south this time, bearing east toward the rising sun. In my travels I found two more massive mountain chains! They truly are breathtaking jutting up from the ocean floor in their yearn to touch the sky. Most importantly, I found a new area called a Jungle. The grass is so green and lush, and the trees! Oh the trees! They have vines and this exotic color that has an olive/reddish hue to it. I chopped down a few trees and got me a few saplings. You can bet your britches that I will be trying these things out once I get back.

For now though, I’m back at my ice farm collecting ice. Something about this place is serene and peaceful. After the last few days, I think I need that.

Scarhoof’s Scribbles #014

Portal Room is prepared Master.

Begin the rising ceremony. He needs to see my power.

What will he think of it?

He will not be able to ignore me any longer.

Dear August,

I just read over what I wrote last time. What a bummer! Who was that dude named Scarhoof? you really should get him a pony or something, because wow, he sure needs one to cheer him up.

So I finished the fishing hut! It’s more like a fishing mansion. I can’t really claim that it’s a mere hut, unfortunately. It is simply far too extravagant to claim that it’s a hut anymore.

I also got the basics of a fishing setup going in the basement, it’s all very complicated with tripwire hooks, wiring, redstone. Even I have a hard time understanding what it is that I’m doing, but it’s working and it’s functional. That’s what matters, right?

But you should see it. It looks fantastic. High sloping roof, I used Acacia wood with Dark Oak for that striking contrast. Seriously, I surprised myself with what I did. It was a lot of work, for sure, but once I worked through the funk from last time, my head got in the game and I got things done.

The power of the mind and it’s ability to overcome adversity is one of the cornerstones of our dominance on this planet. Even if your mind isn’t in the game, push through the pain, push through the rage, push through the anguish, and come out the other side a better version of yourself.

Persevere to conquer yourself.
