When I created the pre-order for A Moonlit Task back in December, I was terrified of the process, and what people would say about my book.
Here I am, two months later, and my book released at midnight this morning. For those of you who have pre-ordered, Thank You. As of this writing, I have a total of 65 pre-orders for A Moonlit Task. My goal was to sell 100 copies of the book before the end of February, and I think I’m well on my way to accomplishing that.
I estimate that 15 were friends and family, which means that 50 random strangers on the internet (including some fans from YouTube) bought my book sight-unseen. That is amazing, particularly because they can’t use the “look inside” feature or download a sample until the book goes live. Seriously you fifty are awesome for taking a chance on me!
Also, if you pre-ordered, the book should BE ON YOUR KINDLE NOW! Why are you reading this blog post when you could be reading about Nancy, Edna, and Linda?
I currently have the Kindle version discounted to $0.99, so if you haven’t gotten it yet, do so before I raise up the price. I’ll probably leave the price discounted to help boost sales for a few days then raise it up. So grab it while it’s cheap!
Now starts the next phase in my career, that of marketing the book to potential readers.
The first thing I need to do is get reviews on my book, Verified Purchase reviews ideally, as soon as possible following the launch. As a new author, I’m just one of thousands who published a book this month. Without reviews, it’s far too easy to fall into the glut of unknowns that fill up the bottom tier of Amazon’s rankings.
If you did leave me a review, please let me know! Email me at email@example.com. I’m super excited to see all that you have to say about this book!
Also, please consider signing up for my newsletter! I have some irons in the fire for new stories and worlds to explore, and everyone on my email list will hear about it first! Plus, exclusive content or something! YEAH! CLICKBAIT TITLE! (Seriously, I won’t spam you or sell your email. I just want my fans to be able to hear about all the cool stuff I’m working on and have an easier way for us to form a community.)
So after all that, I wanted to share with you something for an upcoming series. I’ve been working on this for a while now, and all the feedback I’ve gotten on it thus-far is positive. I’ll leave you with this line:
My name is Korrigan, and I’m the last Dwarf on Earth.
