Today is accountability day for one of my … three? … writing-related groups. I’ll be talking about some of the things I’ve accomplished over the last week and what I’ll be working on for the next week.
One of the big things I’ve been trying to focus on lately is my habits. In fact, I’m letting a lot of other things roll off my back in order to let the habits take precedence. It means I might let some minor stuff fall through the cracks, but I’m focusing on the important, long-term tasks that will help me the most.
These daily habits are:
- Exercise 30 minutes
- Write 1000 words
- Review my Tasks
- Write and Publish my blog post
- Meditate for 15 minutes
Now this last one, I haven’t been putting a huge priority on. I already do some warmup exercises prior to writing or bedtime, so I’m kinda counting those, but I do want to eventually move to more of a structured meditation.
So how am I doing? Not bad, actually.
I’ve hit my blog and exercise goals everyday for a few weeks now (the blog was easy since I’d already been doing it all year).
I review my tasks everyday but I don’t have a dedicated time to knock things out, so most of those just get moved to the next day. Still, it helps that I’m seeing the procrastinated tasks, so I’m able to at least know what I’m not working on.
Writing I haven’t met, unfortunately. The last week has been particularly bad for me with work being super busy, and me trying to launch a new series on the YouTube channel, so I ended up missing Sunday (of all days, right? I should have been able to make that one), and I had one other day this week where I only did 50 some-odd words, but I was determined not to have a zero, so I did it!
So that’s how things are going for me. I’m interested in how other’s handle habits, and what are the top five things you know you should be doing each day for long-term happiness?
