It’s that time of year again. Finals week for my younger kids is finally over, but that meant a graduation was in order, and my youngest will be in high school next year.
On top of that, my daughter’s birthday was today. Busy day for everyone involved.
Given a hectic day like today, with family coming from out of town and hosting guests at the house late into the evening, I was really glad that I made it a priority to get my writing in earlier in the day.
I really didn’t want to, to be honest. This whole week at work has been one thing after another, with barely any time to rest. I knew the late afternoon and evening would be for the family, and I didn’t want to stay up too late, so I had to make a choice once I finally close work out for the day. Do I go relax for a bit before heading out to the graduation, or do I write?
If something is important to you, you need to make the time and develop the habits for completing it.
For me, writing each and every day is the most important step in moving me closer to my goal of full-time author, so that’s what gets first-billing. I’m glad I did now, and I’ll be even happier about it when I review my weekly and monthly goals that I stuck with it.
