One-third of the way through July.

Can you believe how fast this year is going? I know it’s only been ten short days since July started, but a lot has happened in that short amount of time.

I’ll be doing my 20th day of meditation, according to the Headspace app that I’ve been using. That would be the 10th paid session since I finished up the free days that they give you. It’s been going well. The last few days I’ll admit I’ve been having a hard time focusing, so I don’t know how well I can say it’s working overall, but it’s a process, and it’s more about the ritual than it is about the progress.

In the last 10 days, I’ve written 12,494 words on my litRPG. That’s an average of 1388 words per day, and given my goal is 1300 per day, (it’s been creeping up slowly as I progress) I’m pretty happy with that. 1388 words per day, if done every single day in a calendar year, is 506,620 words per year. That’s half a million!

To be honest, I could probably pump out more words each day, but I’m trying to be diligent about using my new keyboard as much as I can, and that definitely slows me down. It also takes me longer to get those words on page and by the time I’ve hit my word count I usually want to wrap up the writing session pretty quick.

So how is the keyboard going? It’s not bad. It’s also not great.

The reality is that a lot of my dayjob involves entering text in multiple fields, tons of copy and pasting, and liberal use of the symbols and other unique characters in the form of passwords typed hundreds of times per day.

While I am doing pretty well with prose in writing, it’s the special characters that trip me up on the Kinesis Advantage. So…I end up going back to my laptop or other keyboard many times during my job just so I can get my work done. I also haven’t tried gaming with the Kinesis yet. To be honest I’m a little scared to try, but I will work on it soon.

So, I could be doing better, but sometimes you just have to get your work done and the Kinesis is a lot to learn. Still, I’m doing my 1388 words in about an hour with it, so I’m pretty happy with my progress so far.

So what have you accomplished in the last 10 days? Any new habits or rituals you have in your life?

Till tomorrow,

Tom
